Menuism Featured Reviewer: SuzieQ
Menuism reviewers are truly awesome! Whether they found an unexpected tasty gem of a restaurant or took it for the team after having a terrible meal, we truly applaud all their efforts in giving us the scoop on where we should be spending our hard-earned money on. On that note, I’d love to introduce you to those reviewers who we feel really contribute quality content to the site as well as quality information to fellow Menuism’ers. Our Featured Reviewer today is SuzieQ. So let’s learn more about SuzieQ from Boise, ID. SuzieQ is a little shy, but enjoy the picture of Foodha, Menuism’s mascot. ![]()
My childhood forged my love of eating out. We went out every Friday night, often using fundraising discount ticket books to determine where we went. As newlyweds, we ate out several times per week. When the girls were little, we picked restraunts based on their kid-friendliness. Now we pick based on taste, value and service. We live in West Boise and are more likely to drive to Meridian than downtown to eat.
1. How did you find out about Menuism?
I was looking for a take-out menu when I stumbled across the site.
2. What about Menuism first appealed to you?
I love to try new places to eat! With our current limited budget for eating out, I like the idea of being warned about the losers and tipped off about the winners.
3. What restaurant did you write your first review about?
Los Mariachis. I found menusim when I was looking for their take out menu, and wrote the review right after the food arrived.
4. What is your food philosophy?
I love variety both in taste and texture. I also think the the visual appeal of the food and then environment in which it is served is as important as the food.
5. What are your favorite restaurants?
Sockeye, Cottonwood Grille, Guidos, Macaroni Grill, Trolly House, Vietnamese.
6. What are your favorite cuisines?
Brew Pub, Seafood, Fusion
7. What are your favorite comfort foods?
When I feel like I need a treat, love anything fried and salty (fries, finger steaks, etc). To celebrate I like seafood. And when I have a sore throat, there’s nothing like Sweet & Hot soup from The Vietnamese Restraunt on Franklin.
8. What is the best meal you ever ate and why?
An anniversary dinner at Cottonwood Grille in Boise. I had vennison with a morelle mushroom sauce that was served with two sides I don’t normally like (butternut squash and scalloped potatoes) that turned out to be fantastic. We were given great wine advice as well.
9. Do you have any favorite cookbooks (if any)?
I have both Betty Crocker and Joy of Cooking for the basics, but use recipes from magazines and cooking shows when I want to try something new.
10. What words of encouragement would you give to first time Menuism reviewers?
Think about the details that matter most to you and include those in your review. Since people have different preferences, the more reviews a place gets, the easier it will be to determine if it fits your own taste.
