My wife and I are planning to vacation in the greater Allentown area in October. We like organic and we like farm-to-table, so our research led us to The Farmhouse retaurant in Emmaus. After reading “valmont’s” review, and comments from “TravelingFoodie” and “ebennet”, and having reseached on Chef Javan and former Chef Adams – we’ll have to say that calling Chef Javan a “short order cook” indicates to us that the review has little validity. Chef Javan started at the “Maryland Club” in downtown Baltimore – serving the likes of T.Rowe Price executives, John Hopkins doctors, and the State Governor – where his specialty was goose. He then moved to RI where he served at “Table 28” on the water in E. Greenwich and then the esteemed “Potowomut Club” where he often served the Dean of Brown University….not to mention the time he spent in Frisange, Luxemburg serving with the number one female chef in Europe – Chef Lea Linster. And he has been sorely missed by both the Intercontinental in Boston, and the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge. But no where in our research did we find “short order cook” – but he appears smart enough to know that when one is in a pub – like the one down stairs at The Farmhouse – that high quality grilled cheese and farm-to-table personal pizza sure go well the many fine selection of brews they offer (and we’re sure that children can now enjoy the new menu too). Now on the other hand, we have found more poor reviews on Chef Adams than we have found good. We are pleased with the changes at The Farmhouse and very much plan to experience them first hand in October. FoJ
