Executive Chef B.J. Brown opened Bistro By The Beach in the spring of 2011 with a vision of creating the Jersey Shore's finest dining experience. Trained at The New England Culinary Institute, and spending extensive time at some of Monmouth County's most respected establishments, Brown infuses every dish with his insatiable passion for food and desire to please. Starting under Dan Cummings for the Grenville Hotel, a well reviewed kitchen in Bay Head, NJ, Brown excelled. Once word of his talents got out, several offers landed on the Chef's plate. Mumford's Culinary Center in Tinton Falls, NJ grabbed the up and coming star, and it is there that he perfected his skills and further earned his stripes. It is also where he met good friend, Chef Casey Pesce. Chef Pesce recruited Chef Brown to help him open his restaurant, D'Jeet. After helping D'Jeet become a huge success, Bistro By The Beach was opened, and the reviews have been tremendous!

Four friends came together, with a shared love of the Jersey shore and Bum Rogers. Finally, in March of 2013, we were able to realize our dream and purchase the restaurant, with the goal of restoring Bum Rogers to its glory and doing our part to help the Restore the Shore. You’ll still get our world famous garlic crabs and ice cold beer when you come off the beach or out of Island Beach State Park, but it will be in an updated restaurant with a renovated interior, remodeled bathrooms, and passionate staff.

The history of The Manasquan Beach House began over a century ago. This fifty bedroom structure was initially constructed circa 1893, by Mary Potter, as a three story home on neighboring Fletcher Avenue. Ernest Froelich bought the house prior to the turn of the Twentieth Century, and moved it to its present location. After adding a wing equal in size to the original structure to the western end, it became known as The Jackson House, "The Closest Boarding House to the Beach." The Manasquan Board of Trade Booklet of 1910 contained an advertisement for the Jackson House, which listed Mr. Froelich as the proprietor. The Jackson House continued operation through 1948, with Mrs. Froelich in command. However, due to her failing health, the responsibility of the day-to-day operation fell on the shoulders of her younger sister, Ruth Urich. In February of 1949, Ruth was murdered at the rear of the building. To this day, her murder remains Manasquan's only unsolved homicide. Most recently the O’Neill Family owned and operated the business under the name of O’Neill’s Bar, Grill and Guesthouse. Prior to that Doc Donahue’s South and The Main St. Saloon were the owners in the late 70’s and through most of the 80’s. Now, the newly renovated, The Manasquan Beach House offers comfortable rooms and suites, decorated with great care to provide a cozy atmosphere and to make your stay with us as enjoyable as possible. We offer dining inside and on our porch. Our restaurant features pasta, steaks, specially prepared chef specialties by Chef Chris Ross, and the finest seafood in our region. We offer Lunch, Dinner and a Late Night Bar Menu. We have Sushi and a Children’s Menu. We have a unique atmosphere for the entire Family, whatever the season or event. We are located on Lake Avenue in Asbury Park. Lake Avenue is the first street on the south side of the city. It runs along Wesley Lake, which separates Asbury Park from its sister town of Ocean Grove. Ocean Grove, Moonstruck’s original home, is a charming, historic, Victorian town. It is easy to walk from one town to the other as there are two footbridges that cross the lake and connect the two Seaside Gems. Moonstruck is owned by Howard Raczkiewicz and Luke Magliaro. The restaurant originally opened in Ocean Grove in 1995 as a small storefront BYOB. But really it all began with The Raspberry Café, which Howard and Luke opened on January 1st, 1989. Now, they are returning to their roots, intent on dominating the New Jersey restaurant scene. Celebrated chef Matthew Zappoli, brother Paul Zappoli, and lifelong friend Michael Cacciuttolo have opened Tre Amici, or "Three Friends," on Ocean Avenue in Long Branch. The three graduates of Middletown High School North, after making their careers elsewhere, have come home to Monmouth County.
