4.0If you happen to be traveling through downtown Yonkers, NY, and you are looking for some really good NYC-style neighborhood pizza, and especially if you have a good GPS unit, set it for 282 Morsemere Ave in Yonkers, and start driving the twisty hills until you get to the intersection of Moresmere Ave, Amackassin Terrace, and Moresmere Terrace (a short dead-end street).
As locations go, A & V Pizzeria is nothing special: a single-wide storefront pizza-to-go place next to a small sit-down restaurant (A & V Family Restaurant) for which the pizzeria serves as kitchen. However, the pizza is every bit as good as the best Brooklyn or Bronx neighborhood pizzerias — no, it’s not John’s or Tottono’s, but it’s good food, with good, fresh ingredients, and well worth the trip from Getty Square if you have the time to spare. Much better than the other, more-accessible pizzerias in the area.
I work in the area, and just stumbled upon it while I was trying to figure out a shortcut to Nepperhan Ave
It’s a slice!
