A family staple

We come here quite often since the food is good and it’s generally less crowded than other Chinese restaurants in Irvine (it’s out in the business area on the west side of jamboree). It’s also one of the only places you can get the big warm pots, big sesame bread and good lamb dishes. It’s changed owners a few times, but it’s still pretty good on the whole.

What I ate:
  • ****

A staple of most of our meals. The fish is always soft and tasty. Great for wrapping in the green onion pancake for a chinese fish soft taco.

  • **

Good idea, but the chicken didn’t enough flavor. This was a special on the whiteboard, so may be something they were trying out.

  • ****

Assorted goodies – fish balls, meat, veggies, etc. – all stewed in a huge clay pot. Good and healthy.

  • ****

Really good amount of green onion – perfect for dipping in the warm pot soup. The bread’s crispy crust is also good for wrapping food…

  • ****

The green onion pancake here isn’t the thick crispy kind. It’s big, flat and floppy – perfect for wrapping fish or lamb in :)

  • ****

Walnut shrimp with mayonnaise sauce is such a wonderful dish. At Jamillah it’s more crispy and less mayonnaisse-y so it’s really good.

  • ****

They have great lamb here. The cumin adds a nice little kick.
