Mediocre food, horrible service

I’m done with this place and its horrible service.

The fact that Purple Dot’s open really late makes them popular among the post-clubbing crowd and a destination for a quick bite of mediocre Hong Kong-style diner food. But the management should realize that long, late hours are no substitute for good food quality and decent service, none of which they currently have.

I’ve experienced a number of poor dining experiences at Purple Dot, so the latest should have been no surprise to me. This time around, a busboy dropped a cup of soda on the floor behind us, spraying some members of the party with liquid. Barely an apology registered.

Service speed is consistently poor, always rushing you to order, but post-ordering always slow to refill water, tea, etc. To top it off, we had a waiter accept a $20 bill to get change, only to hand it back and ask us to go to the front counter to get change, saying “I can’t help you”. Our entire table was just staring, stunned.

Given the consistently poor service and food, I’m not coming back. If you care at all about having a reasonable dining experience, you might not want to either.

Forgetable experience

I forgot about eating here but I agree completely. We got into a squabble about being charged for 2 rice when we received one. The server said that it depends on how many people at the table not the size of the portion (duh???) The food was luke warm and English skills did not promote any answers on the finer points of the menu. Definitely a glitzy shiney nothing special! I remeber waves of cigarette smoke coming in from the back door, it was dirty and a poor example of our International districts places…Try Tai Tung, 663 Bistro….

Slow and Dirty

This is one of the worst chinese restaurants I have ever been to in the Seattle area! It’s dirty inside, I found a piece of hair in my wonton noodle soup. Service is always really slow, and it takes a long time to get a table. Food is not fresh, it tastes like it was prepared days ago.The price is quite high for chinese food, portion is average.

I don’t recommend this restaurant, If only there was negative star ratings available…

Hits the spot for late night cravings

While the food isn’t something to write home about, it’s pretty decent Chinese for the price and the portions are pretty big. We came pretty late (past 11) and there wasn’t much else open so it was an easy choice. I suppose almost anything tastes good when you’re hungry and it’s late…

What I ate:

Generous amounts of steak, grilled chicken fillets, and pork chops served with french fries with you choice of sauce (I got black pepper). Meat and potatoes – awesome huh?

An OK place that's open late

I actually think that this place is an ok place to hang out at late night. The food that I’ve tried all cost normal and taste fine. It’s great because it’s open late.

I get this item way too many times, but it’s very tasty.

I hate this place

This restaurant has gotten a little better sinecethe new management, but the service is just plain bad. It takes forever to get some water, and when you do get it, its a tiny cup you finish in 2 gulps and then wait forever for another cup. Also they just don’t care if you get seated or not when its busy. I refuse to go there anymore.
