great seafood in Belltown
Flying Fish is a fun Belltown joint to go with friends for dinner or a nice family meal out. It’s a nice atmosphere, not to loud, and they’ve got a good variety of things on the menu (mostly all Seafood of course). They always have a couple of fresh Hawaiian fishes to choose from (aside from the common Mahi Mahi). So if you like Hawaiian fish this is a great place to go.
The quality of the fish was great and everything comes nicely prepared. I think this is a solid choice for Seafood in Seattle.
The highlight had to be the desserts which I’ve heard about…so good! At around $10 a pop, they’re worth it. Filling and I feel like you get your money’s worth for what you get.
Service was great – our waitress was exceptional and we always got anything we asked for right away.

Grilled Gulf Shrimp Platter
Delicious, you can order this to share or it also works as a full meal. Juicy grilled prawns that comes with a yummy mango salsa.
-
Upside Down Pecan Cake
Yummy pecan cake drizzled with chocolate and comes with chocolate ice cream. A pretty good choice if you like pecans. Filling too.
-
Warm Caramel Apple Pie
The best dish of the night – an awesome warm pie – the crust was perfect and so were the apples. Served with vanilla ice cream hot out of the oven. Takes 10 minutes to heat up. I really recommend this one.

Not worth it
I’m going with 2 stars because of the food. The service deserved a 3 but I just was not impressed when I went there for lunch today. I went in for the 25 for 25 lunch and was really surprised to find they had no vegetarian entree on the 25 for 25 lunch menu. I ended up ordering off of the regular menu and got the field green salad with meyer lemon vinaigrette and the crispy tofu. I chose the greens salad over the beet salad because it was described as coming with goat cheese croutons which sounded really good… and they were…. except that there was only one of them. Granted it was off of the small plates menu but getting 2 or 3 of them would have been nice seeing that the one i had was quite small. The greens and the dressing were pretty decent though. Then came the tofu… First off, the dipping sauce was spilled all over the plate and the waiter apparently didn’t see anything wrong with serving it like that. It looked great other than that though, the plating was nice and the pickled vegetables were good and spicy but then I tried to tofu. It was so bland and not at all crispy like it says its going to be. The sauce was ok but couldn’t compensate for the tofu. I sent it back. This is the first time I have ever sent food back in a restaurant. The waiter was very understanding and fine with that, he quickly went and talked to the cooks to see what they could do and they offered to make me a stir fry with rice which sounded pretty good. The waiter kept checking to make sure that the person I was with was ok with her food and didn’t need anything else which was good. He brought out my replacement dish of broccoli, red onion, edamame, and a few other veggies stir fried with some rice on the side. I think it was arborio rice which didn’t work too well for the purpose and was pretty boring and plain and the stir fry was just ok, nothing special. It was nice for just throwing something together for me though. Fortunately they comped both my drink and my friends which was really cool of them. I think that this just really isn’t a restaurant for a vegetarian, I don’t think I’ll be returning here.
great ambiance and delicious food
i’d heard a lot about this restaurant, but after eating there, i’m now a fan too! some items are pretty pricey (although i’ve actually been eating from the more affordable options), but the food is really delicious and the setting of the place is just lovely… the menu is printed daily, so some items may not always be available or in season.

Grilled Fish Tacos platter
you can also get a large platter ($17.95 i think..) to share between 2 hungry people or 3 not-so-hungry people. comes with reeeally delicious pieces of grilled fish and small tortillas. best part, guacamole included at no additional charge :)
-
Thai Crab Cake
seriously one of the best crab cakes i’ve ever had! (and i think i’ve tried quite a few…)
