From the Restaurant
For hundreds of years in the bustling cities and fragrant harbors of Asia a favorite and familiar place to savor distinctive local dishes has been the side street beer house, or pejiu wu. Here, large mugs of beer complement emphatically fresh and tantalizing "street food" made with fresh local ingredients and regional spices that tend to be on the hotter side.

The food is Chinese.. American style in the heart of busy Union Street. I typically don’t like to eat at “trendy” Chinese style restaurants, but the food is actually good here. The decor is a little tacky for my taste, but I’ve always enjoyed having dinner and drinks here.
Line ups and waits can get very long if so make sure you’re ready for that if you go during peak dinner hours.
Yummy Asian fusion
Looking for a great time in a trendy, themed, fusion restaurant? Look no further than Betelnut. This is my second time here and I’ve loved it both times. The kitchen opens up to the dining area so aromas lift through the air and consume you even before you eat; leaving you salivating like Pavlov’s dogs.
Word of advice: Since its so good, the wait for drop-ins can be atrocious. Better RSVP and show up at your time if you want to get in. One time I showed up to put my name on the list. They asked me to return in an hour. I did and they said to check back in another 45 minutes. I highly recommended RSVPs
-
Cecilia's minced chicken & lup cheong with lettuce cups
Very good. Lettuce is crisp and fresh.
-
Curried potato and sweet pea samosas with mango chutney
Samosas had a very nice crispy shell with soft warm centers. Great amalgamation of different textures. Mango chutney works well
-
"bien pow" firecracker chicken with szechuan chilis, onions, & toasted almonds
Just look at the ingredients!
