Brunchtastic!!

This place literally looks like a shack on the outside right now with its camouflage olive green painted exterior and wooden boards guarding the entrance. I could hardly make out the “Bongo Room” sign. But when the place is packed at 9:30a.m. on a Saturday morning, you know it’s gotta be gooooood.

As everyone reviewed, Bongo Room is a MUST TRY brunch place. Our party got a main dish for each individual person plus a chocolate tower to split between 3 people. Each bite was a mouthful of absolutely delicious, guilty pleasure – loads of eggs, sauces, chocolates – mmmm, I’d do it all over again!!

What I ate:
  • A_amkox3qr3leaaby-gaa880x80
    *****

You can definitely taste the sweetness of the sweet potato. The combination of guacamole with the sweet potato, soft tortilla shell, and melted cheese was incredible.

  • Achpn-lbyr3lzyaby-gaa880x80
    ***

We got the omelette filled with mushrooms and sausage. This dish was good, but it didn’t wow me like the others… kinda plain actually.

  • *****

Eggs, ham, and English muffin bathed in Hollandaise sauce goodness. Eggscellent! :)

  • *****

Chocolate French Toast, with pieces of chocolate embedded into the bread, covered with white chocolate sauce, bananas, and chocolate shavings. The tower is definitely not tall, so don’t expect an actual tower like I did, but it is a divine dessert. I wouldn’t recommend eating this as your sole breakfast. :)

AMAZING brunch!

So I have been wanting to go to the Bongo room for the longest time after hearing about their crazy pancake and french toast options, I mean you are talking to a dessert queen over here. We went with a group of 11 people – yes so we had to wait for at least a hour but our food came out rather quickly and it was definitely worth the wait! If you could I would go with several people and get different dishes so each person can have a taste of everyone’s dish. The portions are so huge here that it is hard just to eat one thing by yourself!

What I ate:
  • *****

My friend got this and it was huge! Definitely a decadent dish – very chocolately!

  • ***

Loved the combo of strawberries and mango but the sauce tasted like jam and wasn’t too special

  • *****

Mine dish was more like white chocolate berry cheesecake pancakes but this is close enough of a title – this was simply amazing! Three large pancakes with a white creamy sauce on top – wasn’t too cheesecakey and it was light enough that it wasn’t over whelming.

brawny brunches

i love coming to bongo room for brunch! the only downside is that it can get super crowded, and the wait is painful…especially when you’re running on an empty stomach in the morning. there’s actually another bongo room in the south loop that’s much bigger & spacier – i prefer it over this location.

What I ate:
  • *****

i’m not a big fan of pancakes, but these are just too dang delicious to pass up. i love the subtle lemon flavor in these fluffy large patties…it’s a surprisingly wonderful kind of pancake.

Holy crap this place is great. If you want HUGE portions ...

Holy crap this place is great. If you want HUGE portions of either breakfast or lunch, this is the place to go. I go there for breakfast and have to get half portions because I just can’t finish the decadent meals. They are tasty beyond a doubt and the price is good too. I bring all my friends there when they visit.

Lunch at a Brunch Place

Bongo Room is well-known for their brunch items but I tried two of their sandwiches for lunch. The sandwiches were GIANT! It also comes with a side of hash browns, caesar salad, potato salad, or mixed greens. You may have a hard time finding parking in Wicker Park but this place is worth it.

What I ate:
  • Cxl9s6ye8r27eeaby-gaa880x80
    ***

I liked the chicken and pear flavors mixing together. The cranberry alioli needed to be stronger. I liked the hash browns a lot.

    ****

The crab salad with the eggs was very good. The salad was very light and wasn’t too heavy.
