From the Restaurant
VIRIDIAN is a neighborhood restaurant in the heart of DC’s burgeoning arts and design district, on 14th St. Revolving art shows fill the walls of this modern, elegantly-cool space. Viridian presents simple seasonal American cuisine complemented by an artisanal wine list, providing a co-existence between food, wine, place and season. The diverse menu includes culinary touches from around the globe, allowing the diner to experiment freely, while still offering classic comfort. Dietary needs are also addressed through non-dairy, vegetarian, and vegan offerings. The wine list is hand selected by the Chef to accentuate his unique cuisine. Most of the major wine growing regions of the world are represented with eclectic as well as classical selections. The concise list is made approachable with all bottles being under one hundred dollars and all wines under forty five dollars are available by the glass.

I read a lot of great reviews about this place but was less than impressed by it. It claims to be very veggie-friendly but there were only 1 or 2 veggie dishes on the menu and the one I got wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great either. I had an interesting drink – Nice Spice Ice – lots of points for originality but the flavor was a little lacking. And it was a bit spicy for me as well. As for the ambiance – I’m sure it works for some but wasn’t quite for me. The clientele seems to be a good bit older than my boyfriend and I.
