solid cambodian mom 'n pop
curious about cambodian food, i came here after reading so many positive reviews about this place.
a small mom ‘n pop shop in chinatown, phnom penh house isn’t much too look at from the outside and is actually pretty easy to drive by w/o even noticing. but the food and service is delicious and warm, and enough to make you want to come back for more for a lazy dinner night (either for sit-down or take out). for a tuesday nite, the place was pretty crowded and probably a good indication of how much it’s liked.
-
Fried Calamari
tasted fresh and different from what you might be used to at american restaurants. here they give you a nice square slices of calamari deep-fried in batter to almost not be able to tell it’s calamari hidden inside.
-
Steamed Fish
the cambodian spices definitely give this steamed fish a unique flavor. the fish tastes soft from the steaming and is oddly addicting.
-
Thai/Cambodian Iced Coffee
ya know i couldn’t really tell the subtle difference between cambodian iced tea and thai iced tea. they have quite similar tastes. equally good and sweet.

I love this place too!
I used to work at a neighboring Alameda company and for every special occasion (people’s birthdays, promotions, going away parties etc etc) we would always head over to Phnom Penh. This is one of the best places you can go to for a casual, scrumptious meal. I cannot say enough good things about this place period!
This is definitely a hole in the wall, mom & pop shop. But for the person in the know, this will be a feast of delicious Cambodian dishes. Prices are reasonable; and you order family style so you’ll be able to sample tons of new foods and determine your own personal favorites. Service isn’t high end but it’s reasonable for a mom & pop joint. Only downfall is this place is sooooo goooood and popular, that you may have to wait for a table. Don’t be discouraged though, it’s worth the wait!
Being away in New York at the moment, I constantly yearn for this place. And when I do fly into Oakland, I usually try and pursuade my pick-up driver to swing by this joint for a bite to eat. This place has my adoration and must definitely be visited!
-
Cambodian Eggplant dish with shrimp/pork
Excellent and full of delicious flavors. Garlic and a lime/fish sauce flavor predominate.
-
Bean thread noodles with crispy fish
Excellent! Lotus nuts are found in this dish. Again there is that fish sauce/lime flavoring that characterizes this dish.
-
The orange noodles with the shrimp or tofu
Yeah, I wish I knew the names but fortunately there is a description of each of these dishes in the menu. This is a popular one so chances are the tables around you will have ordered it and all you’ll need to do is point and say that youy want that dish.
-
Mint Beef or BBQ meats
Worth trying and won’t be disappointed
-
Fish in a banana leaf/lotus leaf
Delicious, especially with rice! The rice soaks up the flavor and this is like heaven in the mouth!
-
Thai/Cambodian Iced Coffee
My personal favorite but I know that a lot of my coworkers also enjoyed the Thai Iced Tea

I love this place!
I love this place! It’s a great place to go to if you’re looking for a casual dinner with your friends or want to pick something up for an easy dinner at home. They serve cambodian cuisine and I highly recommend the fish over bean thread with veggies.
It can get quite busy on the weekends but is an easy place to go to during the weekdays. Prices are moderate. The owners are very friendly and open to questions.
