The Jury Has Reached Its Verdict

I fell in love with Jury’s as soon as I walked in the door. It smelled like one of those supper clubs where people went on first dates in the 1970’s. The waitresses are all wearing white shirts and red aprons and they’re all busy carrying around all-American food like tuna melts and reubens.

And they bring you bread in a little basket with olive oil and butter as soon as you sit down. It’s that type of restaurant. I kind of like it.

They’re really famous for their burgers, so of course, that’s what we ordered.

What I ate:
  • ****

My friend absolutely loved his. I was more ambivalent, probably due to having such high expectations. It was a good burger, but didn’t have the nice beefy taste I go crazy about. It was also juicy, but where was all the juice coming from? A good burger should have crannies where the juice comes out when you bite into it; this burger was more tightly packed.

  • ****

They’re huge. A side of onion rings means four onion rings. Instead of an oily coat, these have more defined crumbs fried on. Substantial and very good.

  • *****

An ice cream cake with banana ice cream and raisins, nuts, and some caramel. Great graham cracker crust and whipped cream on top. Points for creativity.
