Amato’s used to be across the street in the Wawa plaza. I never ate there. A few years ago it built a new building on the corner of 49 & Buck. The young guy and his wife who ran the place did a nice job. It’s always fun to have a new building to work with.
Our family dined here with some consistency. The pizza was okay; not great, but standard and certainly worth having. We also found the Meatball Parm sandwiches very tasty.
But then ownership changed. We heard an uncle bought him out and the young family moved out-of-state. Since then, Amato’s has deteriorated.
Service is horrible. We do not dine in any longer. Only on an odd occasion will we even order take-out. There have been far too many mistakes with our orders (forgotten food, wrong food prepared, etc.). We have also noticed that prices have skyrocketed. Subs are more than $5 and quality has suffered.
Cheese fries from here are no good. The fires taste baked, not fried, and they are always soggy. Even the pizza has slacked off. The crust is inconsistent. One can never hold the slice without it falling.
Amato’s is definitely on our Blah! list. We do not recommend it.
