5.0Armenian Market & Bakery is a new International Grocery Store & eat-in cafe opposite Watertown Mall on the corner of Arsenal & Elm Streets. It’s difficult to find a local eatery which has FRESH lahmajun right out of the oven, made to order!
They also offer beef or chicken shawarma rolled up with veggies & seasonings or try the Shawarma Dinner. You can sit in the cafe section and enjoy Armenian music playing for ambiance while sipping on fresh brewed coffee. When we were there it was quite busy and robust with conversation. It’s a very happy place, almost like going back to a traditional ethnic home. The greatest part of this place is first walking in the door! The scent of fresh lahmajun baking makes the stomach grumble & the mouth water!
If you’re able, try a piece of baklava or kataiffi for dessert. They have a limited menu starting out but we expect great things to come from this delightful place as they open up their outdoor cafe in the Spring. Next time we go, we’ll be checking out the yalangi dolma. If Armenian Market’s stuffed grape leaves are as good as their lahmajun, they’ll be tough to beat in MetroWest!
The chicken was tender, moist and nicely seasoned & shaved. Served with a side of fluffy white rice and a vegetable medley consisting of summer squashes sauteed in olive oil, garlic & seasonings. A satisfying meal.
The “Armenian Pizza” is large, perhaps 8 – 9" in diameter and there’s a nice blend of meat & spices coating the flavorful dough. Most lahmajun I’ve experienced exposes more dough than topping — not here! This pie was amazing & filling.
