one of the tastier places in irvine
Taco Rosa really is quite a good restaurant to go eat at. It has a nice, clean atmosphere, and the service is fun. Our waiter was exuding enthusiasm, and very friendly, calling us “amigo” frequently. The prices here are reasonable, and actually pretty cheap considering the pleasant atmosphere and excellent food you get. It was also pretty sweet how they give these cheese tortilla roll things to start you off. Quite different than the normal chips and salsa restaurants provide.
One of the first things I noticed was the nice menu. Maybe it was just me, but I was impressed. I usually order a burrito to measure a Mexican restauarant against others, so I ordered one of those. I appreciated the different take on it, since they did used ingredients such as spinach and other fresh stuff, unlike rice and beans. Beans come on the side for those who want it, anyways. While the burrito turned out to be a medley of various, tasty flavors, it was the churro that stole the show. Who doesn’t love cinnamon and chocolate? The fact that both are present in this dessert makes it quite a potently delicious dish.
The reasonable pricing mixed with the higher quality food makes this restaurant worth visiting. A great place, even if it is a chain.

Arizona Burrito
I really liked the tortilla of this burrito. It made a presence in the burrito, yet wasn’t too much. The fresh vegetables they throw in with the tender chicken helps too. It was a great burrito, but in retrospect, I’ve had some truly awesome burritos which packed more flavor than this one.

Churros
After eating a fresh churro like this, it makes you think about all those shoddy churros you’ve had in the past. It’s loaded with cinnamon and the chocolate dip pushes it to another level.

muy bueno!
holy moly, who knew you could eat so well for so cheap in irvine/tustin?! i came to taco rosa for sunday lunch, and crowds of people were waiting to be seated as well. like the previous reviewer writes, taco rosa conveniently offers dishes running the gamut of price ranges. overall, an excellent place to spend your money, time, and tastebuds.
i’ve also been to their sunday champagne brunch, which is a mandatory buffet til 2pm, and a good deal for $15.95. great burrito bar, array of various mexican dishes, and delicious churros w/chocolate dip and chocolate dipped strawberries.

Lumb Crab Tacos
i thought each taco was $3.50 so i got 2 orders. when my dish came, there were 4 small tacos! what a deal! and they don’t skimp on the lump crab. you also get a small pile of tortilla chips and cold sliced carrots, onions on the side. yummy.

Churros
it takes 10-15 minutes to make, so order early. the funny-shaped churros come out piping hot, covered with cinnamon and sugar. they’re mighty tasty on their own, but for chocolataholics, 2 small bowls of melted chocolate are also served along w/the 6 to 7 pieces of freshly-made churro. i was in a party of 3, and we finished them off w/no problem.

Unique Mexican & Good Prices
We didn’t really know what to expect when we decided to eat on Taco Rosa. From the outside it looks pretty fancy and clean, so we figured it might actually be on the expensive side. Fortunately, we found out that the prices actually have a large range (depending on how much you want to spend). For example, you can get a single taco for $3.50 or get a fancier dish that might be $17-$23.
We ended up eating outside, which was pretty nice; it had couch-type seats which were kinda odd(though a little too sunny and hot that day). The food though, was a lot better than I expected. The free appetizer was 2 cheese eggrolls and some salad over a crispy tostada. It was very unique, as the burrito had 3 sauces over it, comprising the mexican flag (i think), which was very cool. My alambre tortas (steak and bacon) was a lot different than the standard tortas i usually see: instead of the inside of a burrito inside two slices of bread, it was more quesadilla-like, but ummm, not really (See pics). The pineapple agua fresca was also very refreshing.
I definitely want to go back sometime, since they have breakfast too. They also have churros with chocolate sauce that i have to try, but remember to order this one a little earlier (takes 8-10 minutes). Overall: Good service, food, originality, price

Alambre Tortas
Easy to eat. Much different than the normal, super messy tortas from mexican places i’ve been to.
-
Arizona Burrito
not stuffed with filler like beans and rice. tender chicken. cool sauce layout.
-
Agua Fresca
This is flavored water. they had pineapple that day, which was very refreshing. Free refills. I’m glad they didn’t have horchata, since it probably would not have been as refreshing.
