Great find for Thai food
I’ve eaten at many of the well-established Thai restaurants in Seattle and left disappointed. Which made “Grandma Thai Cuisine” in Kent, WA and delightful discovery.
Run by two older Thai ladies, Grandma Thai Cuisine serves (IMO) Seattle’s best Thai food backed by fresh ingredients and preparation. The owner and cook acknowledges that she does serve dishes slightly moderated for the general American palette, but was more than happy to serve me food made “Thai-style”.
Tom Yum and Tom Kha soups are made fresh, without the assistance of pre-made soup-bases. Curries are fragrant, and when wanted, cooked longer to allow a beautiful and flavorful skim of chile-infused oil to float atop. And, grandma’s stick rice and mango and Thai Tea are simply superb!
The restaurant itself is small and humble, but it’s very clean and homely. Service is quick and friendly. A small on-site parking lot makes parking a breeze.

Chicken Larb
Loaded with fresh mint (sometimes from Grandma’s garden) and Basil. Particularly delicious and pairs with just about everything fantastically.
-
Green Curry with Chicken
Panang Gai Curry (Chicken) is my favorite, I think. I’ve never been a huge fan of green curry until grandma made it. It’s fragrant, spicy and piquant — perfect for cooling with Cha Yen (Thai Tea).
-
Thai Tea
Brewed fresh, it tastes as it should. Though, Grandma makes her tea too sweet, which is why I gave this item 4 stars. Other customers like it sweet, so she complies. If you’re not a fan of overly sweet tea, just be sure to let her know in advance.

Penang Curry with Chicken
Panang is a classic curry and common favorite. What really makes the dish for me is an overwhelming aroma from lime leaves and a thin slick of chile-infused oil floating atop. The curry is normally served creamier, but ask for it “Thai-style” with “oil on top” if you like your Penang more authentic.
