Intuitive service, elegant setting. I recommend the 5-course tasting with cheese service. For first-timers do not leave without trying the chef’s moroccan version of lamb, the pan-seared scallops for fish course and the ahi tuna starter. The ahi arrives by wings in the form a butterfly, difficult to eat it is so beautiful. Surprisingly, if you order the trio of sorbet for dessert you will beat any dessert at your table, even the souffles.

I really like the concept- a daily tasting or make-your-own 3-5 course tasting menu. Bread (or blini, if you choose caviar) appear as if by magic. The sauces were excellent and complex. The ambiance was warm and wonderful. The service was wonderful but a little flawed.

Must try their prix fixe (5 course). Located by Ghirardelli Square by Fisherman’s Wharf. Service is top notch, and food is superb. Be prepared to eat for approximately 2 to 2.5 hours. Everything is fancy-schmancy, but seats can be a little bit close to each other. I believe dress code is business casual, but most people were a bit more dressed up as it is a 5 star restaurant. Usually they give you a little “surprise” to take home and try. So worth the money.

All time favortie!!!

Been there twice and can’t wait to go again. The service is top notch, informative and not snooty. Don’t be shy to ask questions, they are willing to help (learn and enjory). 5-course is the way to go but it can be too much food. Only downfall, I hope there menu changes when I go again.

Extras:
I came here for
a romantic date
My meal cost
more than $50
I tipped
more than 18%

Can't go wrong eating here...

While it may be a step below French Laundry, Gary Danko is still a wonderful fine dining experience. If you’re in the mood to blow some dough, it’s worth every penny.

Holy $#!&, that's good food

This is definitely one of the best restaurants in SF (and I’m a native!).

Food: They have this offbeat style menu, where you choose how many courses you want to eat (3 to 5). Then you select those courses from ANY of the items on the menu. Like, if you wanted 3 meat courses…you could have it! I went with my gf and we went nuts, ordering 5 courses each…and all different items. That’s 10 dishes we tried and they were all great. Even the 1 or 2 dishes that we thought weren’t anything special were still above average at any other restaurant.

Service: The service was even better! Not just friendly…I swear that the moment I put down my water glass…it was refilled. I probably could have nudged my fork over the table and someone would have caught it before it hit the floor.

Price: This kind of food and service ain’t cheap. With the food, the wine, and the extra drink we had at the bar, the tab came in just under $300. That could have easily been less than $200 if there was no alcohol and we had fewer courses. But damn, it was tasty!

One of my new favorites!
