good, cheap, & quick

if i’m ever in the mood for variety and something quick, a & j’s comes to mind. you can order a bunch of small dishes that come out fairly quickly, and taste alright given the low prices. the only beef i have w/is the cleanliness—i inevitably feel greasy and sticky when eating here.

What I ate:
  • ****

not quite like korean jja jjang myeun, but still good. not as saucy or dark, so it tastes lighter. but there’s more meat.

  • *****

man i love this stuff! it’s a combo of doughy inside and crispy outside (from being panfried), and it tastes so yum! makes for a great late night treat.

Probably some of the rudest service, but consistently tasty stuff. Good prices, as well.

Beef Noodle Soup, Pork Chop Fried Rice, the Pot Stickers and the Green Onion Pancake are all worth it.

This place is great for a quick dinner or lunch with friends. The food tastes good enough. The service is ok. The place doesn’t look so clean though.

Authentic northern Chinese eatery

I brought a friend who’s lived in Beijing for years and he was happy with this place. My aunt, who is Chinese-American, also prefer this place to ones in Los Angeles and Shanghai.

The environment is pretty authentic Chinese, with loud voices, workers making dumplings at the tables, and no-frills service. But the tea is hot, the prices are cheap, and the food is good. Try the beef noodle soup, with a cold side of marinated cucumbers.
