Tokyo Japanese Restaurant
One of my favorite restaurants by far.
The atmosphere is superb – very cozy, calm, and comfortable. The building looks a little battered and tired from the outside but the inside has a really nice, simple decor.
I come for the sushi but they do have more than just sushi. They have tempura dishes, noodles, lunch boxes, etc – all that you’d expect to find at a Japanese restaurant and equally as good as the sushi dishes.
The prices are excellent especially when compared to other restaurants where the quality of the sushi doesn’t even approach that of Tokyo Japanese Restaurant.
The staff is very friendly, courteous and attentive.
I waver between the sushi lunch special, various sushi combination lunches, the sushi deluxe, eel lovers, and the tekkadon. I heartily recommend each dish. All of these come with hot green tea and a delicious miso soup – the best I’ve ever had. I’m sometimes tempted just to get a giant bowl of miso soup.
My only knock against it is that it isn’t open on Mondays!

Sushi Lunch Special
Their sushi lunch special seems to vary every week or two weeks and are always delicious.
I don’t know the names of the rolls this week but it’s like a california roll with an added top layer of salmon. Very nice.
Also comes with a roll that has the tempura shrimp in the middle.
And, there are 3 pieces of nigiri sushi (salmon, tuna, and red snapper(?)).
All lunch specials come with miso soup and (if you prefer a hot drink) green tea.

This restaurant had the worst service that I have ever en...
This restaurant had the worst service that I have ever encountered, but the sushi was quite good. The unagi was a little chewier than I like and a majority of the maki rolls were listed as incorporating “hot sauce,” but the majority of the maki menu was creative and all of the rolls that I tried were distinctive. The service is really all that warrants such a low rating.
