Eat elsewhere

I went with friends to the Tavern last weekend. We all gave the waitress credit cards and asked her to split our meal amongst them. Twenty minutes later, she came back with one fewer card than she had when she left. She’d given us a receipt indicating she’d charged the card… she just didn’t give the card back. Hmmm. We let her know, thinking that she must have just left it by the register. She looked for it for maybe five minutes and came back to tell us she couldn’t find it. She’d lost a credit card, and she wasn’t going to do a darn thing about it.

We asked for the manager, who, after another ten minutes, came to our table. We explained the situation, expecting her to frantically ask each of her servers if they’d seen a card. Nope. She calmly explained that the waitress had likely given it to another customer by mistake. “Sorry. I suggest you cancel it.”

WHAT? She didn’t offer to comp any portion of the meal, and she barely apologized.

I’m never going back. And highly suggest you don’t either. Bread and Chocolate across the street has an equally tasty omelet and, while their service is slow, you won’t have to worry about paying what totaled $500 in false charges on your stolen credit card.
