I don’t eat seafood but my husband loves it, a friend recommended this place because they had both seafood and grilled cheese.
I had: Grilled Cheese – (Cow Girls’ Mezzo Secco, cave-aged Gruyere and Fromage Blanc served with house made pickled vegetables) This was very very good. I was a little nervous to try the cheese, but it was sooo good with the bread.
enjoy w/tall glass of beer!
the oysters here are exceptionally fresh, and the beer is soo good.
raw: kumamotos and sweet water are the best, the others were a little fishy (?)
baked: were a little heavy for my taste, they were a little too buttery, but full flavored.
if you’re not sure what u might like, there’s a sampler menu. 6 oysters for $14, and a dozen for $28. in the dozen, u get 2 of each kind.
baked oyster menu, is about, $12 for 4. you can mix and match them. there are 3 different kinds.
i have yet to try the clam chowder, or the oyster stew, which everyone seemed to be having.
it can get pricey, but it’s a fun, tasty experience. don’t plan on making this a ‘meal’... maybe a light snack at the most.
For oysters straight from the farm...
I love a good oyster. Although you can go around the corner on Saturdays and pick up a dozen Kumamotos from the farm’s stall at the farmer’s market for super cheap (4 dozen for $50), you could also plop yourself down at the bar in the Ferry Building and have a nice sparkling wine or sauvignon blanc with your oysters. Nothing beats it. Oh, and if you have a dog, you can sit outside and enjoy your oysters in the sun with your pup. Much added bonus.
