Time to relax

Everything is in a hurry at the new Max’s. The bathrooms can’t cope with the influx of customers and deserve an inspection. The food is OK but was better at Las Magueyes where there was a more relaxed atmosphere.
Still the margaritas are still excellent.

What I ate:

Had the mole al pollo which was just boiled chicken with mole sauce added as an afterthought. Nothing like the real Oaxaca mole.

So Max's Mexican Cuisine may be familiar to...

So Max’s Mexican Cuisine may be familiar to some. Rancho los Mageulles has moved up in the world it seems. RLM was often called Max’s anyhow, and many didn’t even KNOW the real name. So Max has packed up his humble home and moved to a bigger, nicer place with a new, yet not so new, name. Newly decorated with modern, yet homey latin feel and décor and shiny hardwood floors and even a loft to eat upstairs look down upon the peons on the first level.

There is now a room in the back with a bar so you can have your Maxarita’s on a barstool instead of a booth. But with no windows in the bar room, I prefer to drink my poison’s in the booths still.

You will see new faces now. What with the bigger size and all, more bodies are needed. There is an actual hostess now at the front desk instead of Max himself, or the popular waiter, or the papa. Sometimes you may not even see Max or the Waiter and you won’t get the familiar, “WHERE’VE YOU BEEN!??” “I CALLED YOU!!” “RELAAAAX” “ONE MORE?? WHY NOT?” But if you sneak in through the back entrance like I often do, Max may spot you and you will get your warm greeting. And if that original Waiter and Waitress or Papa wait on you, you will get the usual warm, friendly service you once knew at RLM. The margaritas (Max-aritas/Ruffie-ritas) are still strong and wash away your worries and cares and leave you with a giggle on your lips and a stagger in your step. The albondigas is still full of lotsa veggies and flavor, the pozole is still rich and wonderful for your hangover, and the chips still crunchy.

So we are already breaking in the new place, and we still have a blast.

So why not!?

Oh sooo refreshing on a hot day. I usually like my margs on the rocks, but this is so nice blended and frosty. But don’t be fooled. This delicate pretty thing is tough and can knock you out.

Mmmmm, now this is good with lots of veggies and cabbage and meat balls. So nice on a Sunday morning.
