Great local but mediocre sushi is not worth the trip
We went to Kamehachi in Old Town for a quick sushi dinner before our Second City show. We requested a table in their enclosed patio/deck in the back. The enclosed patio makes you feel as if you have been tranported from the hustle and bustle of the city to a little green house in the country complete with a little bubbling water fountain. Sadly, I feel as though the sushi at Kamehachi is mediocre, we ordered about six rolls between our party of three and they all pretty much tasted the same even though they were supposed to be pretty different. The crazy roll at Kamehachi tastes nothing like the crazy rolls anywhere else – in fact it has way too much parsley or whatever and just doesn’t taste like anything. We also ordered the crazy salmon roll and the green turtle roll – both tasted like rice and tempura crunch in the middle. I think the only decent rolls were the sunset roll and rainbow roll. All in all I would not come back for the sushi considering that none of the sushi really stood out and it was a bit more pricey than I expected for the quality of what we were served.
