It's a very good place for Thai food. I've had...
It’s a very good place for Thai food. I’ve had several things here that I like most of the time. Today I shared yellow curry fried rice w/ chicken with a friend and tried one of their soups, Tom Yum (tried, cuz it was 3 stars, and it was too hot for me). The curry rice had a very nice flavor. I’d definitely come back, but try more meat dishes v. rice dishes, to get more protein. :)
A nice Thai joint on the East Side
Applying my yardstick for all Thai places (Phad Thai), this place measures up. The noodles are the right consistency and the sauce is not overly wet.
Also try the fried bananas. It’s a great dessert for anyone that doesn’t mind collecting some cholesterol points.

Pad Thai
hoppin' delicious Thai joint
This is probably the best Thai food I’ve had in the area in awhile. I was pleased with the service and the place was nice, well kept, and also extremely busy. People of all ages eating here, and quite a lot of families. The restaurant is kind of in a strange location, and I actually had no idea it existed until I read about it on Menuism! Thanks Foodha :-)
The food was delicious – and the Chantanee specials section on the menu all looked pretty unique. I would like to come back here and try more of those. They’ve also got all the standard Thai dishes on the menu as well.

Sizzling Seafood Basket
Really really delicious! This was on the Chantanee specials section of the menu. A tasty dish that comes sizzling hot in a tin foil contraption which the waiter then cuts open in front of you to form a little “basket”. Clever. The noodles are especially tasty as well as the mussels, clams, salmon, scallops, and veggies simmering in the lovely sauce.

Best thai option in downtown Bellevue
This is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in the region, and I don’t get out here as much as I should (or want to). Located below street level, at the rear of a strip mall, Chantanee is pretty well hidden and easy to miss if you’re not looking for it. But if you are able to find it, you’re rewarded with friendly and prompt service, tasty and authentic Thai food, and a cozy, homey atmosphere.

i love this place!
i usually find most thai places “pretty good”, but chantanee just stands out from the crowd! in addition to the more typical thai items (curry, pad thai, etc.) which they make very well, they have some really yummy dishes that i’ve never had or even seen at other thai places!
family style sharing of a few dishes is great for dinner, and the lunch specials seem like a good individual-option, not to mention a good deal (if i worked closer, i might come here more often for lunch :)). can be kind of busy on weekends, but it’s usually not hard to get a table for a group of 4 or 5. for larger parties, they do take reservations and there’s always parking available! :)
-
Heavenly Beef
this sizzling beef dish really is “heavenly” :) tender meat, tasty sauce, hiiiighly recommended!
-
Phad See Iew
this is a more typical thai dish, but i think they make it really well here! if i were to have to eat only one dish, this is probably the most balanced—with noodles, beef AND broccoli all in one! :)
-
Crispy Garlic Chicken (King’s Favorite)
like everyone has said. yummy! definitely try it! (it does leave you quite garlic-y tho :))

SOOOO good!
My finance teacher actually owns this restaurant. I went to it once and had the phad thai and green curry and it wasn’t anything too special, so i didn’t go back for quite some time. My close friends go to Chantanee’s all the time and finally convinced me to try again . . they knew exactly what to order and it was delicious!!!
-
Crispy Garlic Chicken (King’s Favorite)
WONDERFUL . . soooo tasty! there’s nothing more to say
-
Beef Salad
Sounds kind of iffy, but it’s actually really refreshing. The green papaya is sliced into thin strips and tastes like a sweeter version of the Japanese radish (daikon). pretty spicy though!
-
Phad See Iew
Wide rice noodles, i had the one with broccolli and beef. It’s nothing like Phad thai. they don’t use peanut sauce, it’s a more soy sauce based flavoring, but nonetheless it was delicious as well!
Excellent Thai in Bellevue
Being one of my most favorite type of food, I must say that I have been longing for some good thai food for quite some time after living in pittsburgh for over a year now. And Chantanee didn’t disappoint. It’s been mentioned as a local favorite that is hard to find, but when people do, they’re glad they made the effort. They have a long extensive menu that you can see for youself on their website and you can order every dish up to 5 levels of hotness. I chose 3 “hot” and it wasn’t too bad. Next time I may try 4. And if you know your thai food, you can also make requests for any dish and the chef will make it special for you. (it’s a family owned restaurant so it’s got a nice homey feel)
-
Beef Salad
I recently discovered the beauty of beef salad and I loved this one. Must try, it’s not as whimpy as you think!
-
Crispy Garlic Chicken (King’s Favorite)
Oh, you gotta get this…The chicken is great and they don’t batter it up too much. Served over a crispy bed of deep fried basil leaves the aroma is wonderful!
-
Golden Prawns
A bit over battered and the prawns were split in a weird manner.
-
Pad Thai
pretty decent for pad thai. I haven’t had fresh seafood in a while, so the shrimp in this was quite good.
-
Satay
awesome appetizer. I would get this for myself, it’s so goooood! Oh yeah, the peanut sauce for dipping is lipsmackin’ good.
