From the Restaurant
The only 50-star restaurant in D.C.! With its sweeping views of Capitol Hill, there could hardly be a more perfect setting for this celebration of regional American cuisine than historic Union Station.

Avoid.
The ambiance at this restaurant is nonexistent and the decor is very strange. Our server was trying very hard, but didn’t speak English very well & had a few issues with personal space. The host, busboys, and servers never cracked a smile or seemed to move with much speed.
Food seemed to come out of the kitchen slow, although our two brunch entrees of steak & eggs were out rather quick (two exact same orders of medium-rare). In fact, our food came before the cup of coffee ordered. One table around us sent the food back and another waited a very long time.
Overall, just avoid this restaurant – my experiences at Thunder Grill, which is situated directly across from America AND owned by the same company, is a far, far better experience in all categories.

Steak & Eggs
The steak was a sirloin but was what I would call a “Waffle House” sirloin. I am no meat expert, but this cut was the lowest grade and was completely unseasoned. The plate was thrown on the plate – the potatoes had an odd coating & the vegetables were overcooked. Not unedible but absolutely nothing remarkable.
