i went here for the first time last week
it was also my first time having a falafel
all the hype ive read about this place, is true
i had the special: large falafel with banana shake
the falafel tasted extremely fresh and not greasy at all and the banana shake wasnt too sweet and was more like a banana smoothie which made it not rich like a milkshake, which to me is great. i was extremely full, but not in an uncomfortable way. it was also featured on food networks diners drive ins and dives. i like supporting these types of businesses. and the food is great, fresh, and you wont feel groggy after eating it either

The BEST falafel/greek food you will have close enough to...

The BEST falafel/greek food you will have close enough to flying to Greece or knowing someone’s Greek mother who will cook for you. Gyros, milkshakes, onion rings, falafel, tabouleh. All yummy. Oh, and it’s not really a drive-in. More like a large stand with a large, outdoor patio.

San Jose Landmark

I’m ashamed to say that I grew up in San Jose and have never been to or even heard of Falafel Drive-in until this past year. This old-fashioned drive-in has been around since 1966 and for good reason. They simply have the best falafels, gyros, and banana milkshakes. If you live in the area and have never been to this fine establishment, you MUST check this out.

What I ate:
  • *****

    very tasty!

  • *****

Even if you’ve never been a fan of banana milkshake, this will change your mind. This is one of the tastiest shakes I’ve ever had.

This can get a little dry without the sauces. I prefer the gyro.

Extras:

My meal cost
less than $10

Best banana milkshakes ever!

The banana milkshakes definitely are the best I’ve ever had! They taste just like frozen bananas blended with milk — light, not too sweet, and totally natural.

I think the falafels are ok, but I usually get the gyros when I come here. The gyros are a bit of a surprise — they don’t give you those thin, flat strips of lamb like most gyros places, they give you nice, huge, chunks of lamb. Really good!

Also, both the gyro and falafel come in large and small sizes, so you can get something that fits your hunger level. There’s a nice combo with the large falafel and a banana milkshake. :) Really, the main reason I come is for the banana milkshakes… they are definitely a must-try if you like bananas.

What a strange concept...

Who thought falafels and drive ins went together??? I sure didn’t. But it works so well. Parking here is hard since the lot is small, but street parking can usually be found if you’re willing to walk a little bit. I think they’re also cash only.

They serve falafels, some kind of hummus combo plate in addition to standard drive in fare of hamburgers, fries, and shakes.

If you come here, you must get the falafel. It comes with a red and white sauce which are both just perfect when you pour them onto your falafel. You should just eat there or eat it soon afterwards since the falafels really don’t keep so well.

My roommate really enjoyed the banana milkshake which apparently many people rave about. I thought it was pretty good, but in general I’m not a big fan of milkshakes, much less a banana version of one.

Pretty darn cheap and fast but still good. So one of my favorite places.
