If you think tattoos and ambiance are more important than food and service, then this place is for you. I might also suggest Psycho Suzi’s in Northeast. As a fan of kitschy retro decor, I was excited to go to this joint. Sadly, I will never go again, after the flippant service we received. In short, it was an hour’s wait for food that arrived cold, and a bunch of shrugs from the staff about it. Too bad I had to pay ahead of time!
Here’s my experience:
On a Sunday afternoon, at the end of their afternoon rush, my girlfriend and I arrived. We waited ten minutes for a table. No problem! We placed our orders around 1:51, and sat down. Half an hour later, I was getting hungry. Forty five minutes later, I saw that some patrons who had come in 10 minutes after us were getting their food — bigger items than the measly sandwich and bagel we had ordered. At 2:53, one hour later after we had ordered, I walked up to the counter to ask where our food was. A waitress who had just passed behind me came up and told me my food was ready, and the girl behind me said “Oh, that’s typical for a Sunday.” When I got back to the table I found my food: although it was sitting on a warm plate, but it was cold. Not wanting to be the tool, I did not make a scene.
So, “Typical for a Sunday?” Just what happens on Sundays? Does the staff go into the back and whine about how rough their lives are, how expensive their inked skin was, and forget to bring out the food? I sure wish that the service that I had tipped in advance for actually lived up to the service that we received. Besides, if I do order at the counter and pay ahead of time, how hard does a waitress here actually have to work? She certainly doesn’t have to remember anything! Except maybe, to do her job!
