Fancy, Pricey, Good
This pseudo -Japanese/fusion restaurant offers sushi, steak, and a variety of other meats. Were it not for the extensive sushi offering it could easily be classified as yet another surf and turf. We opened the meal with some edemame, followed by a bisque-like crab soup with sherry. My companion had a monkfish tempura with bok choy and other veggies, while I had a rib eye steak with asparagus. While not adventurous in our decisions there were several other things on the menu that seemed both appetizing and intricate. The tempura fish wasn’t exceptional, but she elected to have the orange-glaze withheld to keep down on the sweetness of the dish. The steak was good, as well as the sauce; I don’t quite think it was worth the thirty-two dollars, especially in this particular neighborhood. Having sampled the sushi there previously I found it to be pretty good, but not exceptional. The sushi bar area had a nice atmosphere and decoration (not traditional). Seated by the door the live piano and jazz was a little loud. I would eat there again, and recommend stepping out into the menu for their select or more complex dishes.
