Authetic, Delicious, HUGE!
Being Iranian…more specifically Persian, its hard to convince me that any restaurant persian food could be better than the dishes that my mom and grandma make. Reza comes pretty damn close, no offense ladies. The portions are always huge and your leftovers will last you a few days after you leave stuffed. Dont expect a wide range of spices and flavors because indian food this is not. Consider the persian food served here as the barbeque pit of the eastern cuisines so your meats will have a delicious grilled and smokey taste. A lot of people get hung up on the fact that the service is a little slower than most places, but thats because of the time it takes to cook the fresh meat dishes. Soups, bread and goat cheese will more than fill you up while you wait. I’ve been eating at the two different reza locations for 10+ years and never had a bad experience with the food, staff or even the valet parking. I think you’ve figured out im a big fan, but i swear the owner didnt pay me to say all these things!!!

kabob koubideh
Tender, juicy, smokey and delicious ground beef kabobs, served on a bed of soft dill or white rice. Perfection.

Bad Experience
I know a lot of people had great experiences at Reza’s but I just have to share mine. I went with a big group of friends (12 of us) and we had really bad service. On top of that all of our food were lukewarm. I had heard a lot of great things about this place so I was very disappointed.

Yummy Persian food
This restaurant offers great Persian/Middle Eastern-influenced food, and has an extensive menu.
Decor/Ambiance: The place is as huge as its menu, as a brewery existed before the restaurant. Bar area has big fat comfy leather chairs, and dining area is great for huge groups. It’s clean and upscale, but you can still dress casual. Good for dates as well.
Service: Usually good.
Food: Menu is solid throughout. I almost always get the Fessenjan duck though. There’s also a buffet (weekday lunch and weekend brunch) that’s good bang for the buck.

Fessenjan (Original)
This is the dish I always get (and crave). Consists of a half duck simmered in a sweet and sour Pomegranate sauce with crushed walnuts over Persian white rice.

Just like the commercial says
Reza’s runs quite a few commercials in the Chicagoland area with the primary claim that they have something for everyone. At first, I was a little hestitant to try it because you rarely see commercials for good restaurants. But I have to say that I’m pretty impressed. They really do have something for everyone. And if you like kabobs, they have a lot of something for you.
As soon as you walk in, the first things you notice are:- man this place is huge
- i’m definitely going to smell like spice when we’re done
The huge location is great for large groups. The layout is really spacey and they have some really huge tables.
The menu has a wide range of vegetarian, meat (chicken, beef, lamb), and seafood.
Parking is a bit tough, but if you’re going to be sticking around the area (walking distance to quite a few nightspots) there’s a paid lot around the corner that’s $10 for the evening.
-
hummus
Nice light start to the meal. Served with tasty warm pita.
-
baba ghannouj
Refreshing and healthy.
-
lamb shank
Oh so tender meat that falls off the bone. You get 2 shanks and a huge plate of rice.
-
Sangria
It’s refreshing but a little weak for me. I prefer my sangria stronger :)
Good persian food in a good location
In the mood for some high-class persian food? Reza’s is the place to go. This place serves chock fulls of meat: beef, chicken, lamb, and seafood. The portions are big, the food very flavorful. Their meat dishes could do with more veggie side-dishes, though. Service was GREAT, and the environment is posh. The restaurant is also in a good location on Ontario street where finding parking is not too bad.
-
Lamb kabob
Very flavorful and tender. Not enough veggies on the side though. For something different, try the dill rice.
-
babieh
Crispy and sweet. Not the best dessert I’ve ever had, but not bad for $1.95.
big, tasty & meaty
reza’s offers middle eastern food with an enormously wide selection of various meats (chicken, beef, seafood) and vegetables cooked a la grill or baked. the portions are equally enormous and the food is quite flavorful & tasty. i would definitely have no reservations about returning to reza’s. the decor is sophisticated, and our service was friendly, quick, and pleasant. overall, a great first time dining experience at reza’s.

fessenjan
