I found the ambience of the restaurant very nice and calm. The staff and waiters were very considerate and attentive as well – not too in your face and not too hard to get a hold of. It was a bit pricey, but that seems to be the norm in north chicago…maybe?

Horrible food. This place is an insult to indian food. Worst service. I have been to many Indian places around, by far this place is the worst. Quality of food is not good. They mix a lot of baking soda in their buffet food so it tends to fill you up quick. I visited this place with a group of 13 people and 7 of us had upset stomach and aches after our lunch bufet here. Will never go back to this place.

The worst experience I ever had in my life with customer service. My wife and I visited this restaurant hoping to enjoy a Friday evening. No one even bothered to greet us we found ourselves standing there for some 10 minutes with no response. Another American couple also entered the same time and they also waited. We were shocked when the owner yelled from inside the kitchen, looking snappy, upset over someting happening in the kitchen that he could not handle and asked us to leave. I never encountered such behaviour from any customer service personel before.
I heard some bad comments from my friends about the service, but we still visited this restaurent for the first time as we happened to be in the neighbourhood. I could not believe what I experienced. Worst service, worst experience, restaurant doesnot even make to the rating scale. Do not recommend to any one. I donot understand why they even run a restaurant with such attitude. People like these spoil the good reputation of other Indians.

By far the best Indian food in Lake County…it may be only 1 of 2. Indian food is not frequent or the normal in northern Illinois but, this restaurant offers a nice variety. Spiced nicely and offers great buffet choices to those that have never tried Indian food before. Good.

Their lamb saag is to die for. It is exceptional food and the family that own and run it are wonderful.

Awful service. I can’t believe how rude the girl was. I placed an order for pick up and went to get it. It was sitting on the bar for over 10 minutes until someone came over. The woman saw me standing there the whole time I was there.

It is too bad this restraunt has terrible customer service, I do not know what has happened to it over the last year or so, but it went to being my absolute favorite restraunt to my most frustrating. Tonight I ordered my usual Chili Chicken (asking if the cook was making it tonight as that has been a recent issue), employee said yes and I headed out to pick it up 20 min drive from my home. Only to find out they would not/or could not make it. This is the last time I will even try with them. I had sent alot of friends to eat there as well when in town, including my hairdresser.

LOVED the food. The BEST Naan, ever! Nice fireplace on a cold night. Good service. Can’t wait for the leftovers tomorrow.

Eight years ago my husband came over to the States from London. The thing he missed the most was Indian food (and we all know what connoisseurs of Indian food the English are). I wasn’t that crazy about Indian food myself…until we discovered Bombay City! What a treasure this restaurant is. We have been there on numerous occasions for the buffet, for dinner, and we often order takeout. We haven’t had a single experience that was less than stellar in the dozens upon dozens of times we’ve been there. I have developed a love of Indian food that I credit to Bombay City, and my ex-pat husband feels just a little bit closer to home when we eat there.

My family and I had a nice dinner at Bombay City. We found the food to be well prepared and authentic Indian. The waiter and the manager were friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back and have recommended the restaurant to a number of friends.

We had their chicken garlic, chicken tikka masala, jeera rice and nan. Everything was hot and tasty. My wife needs special consideration when eating out and they conformed to her every wish and need. Can’t wait to go back and try some more. Portion sizes were adequate for normal appetites. We went on a weekday evening and were uncrowded. This little gem is worth a try!

We frequented Bombay often over the last several years and some of these comments sadden me. The food has always been great and the service was excellent. I was sorry to hear how the owner’s were treated by their old staff and understand why the let everyone go to start fresh. I was there on 7/18/09 and pleasantly surprised when I had my first bite of the Chicken Vindaloo. It was more flavorful then the last time I visited (prior to change of staff) and even more spicy than before. I hope the negative comments don’t keep people from at least trying this wonderful restaurant.

This place is definitely open, I was just there. Please update the error on this profile. I love the food here, its always good and still is. If you love spicy food, you will be satisfied for sure! Of course you can enjoy milder dishes as well. Its always full of flavor and very delicious. I love the naan! So yummy.

bad service, bad food, this restaurant it’s going down day by day…
I am a lawyer and It’s true about employees, all of them quit at the same time…no money on time, return checks, people from this restaurant were working 60-70 hours per week, no overtime, no minimum wage, no vacation…

i was there last week too, it was totally horrible, waiter doesn’t know anything, food is terible, especially the nan? forget about rumali roti, even the regular nan was really bad, well, i heard that they lost their employees because of not paying on time, maybe they are gonna lose guests too….

What are basics you look for in a Resturant?

• Good Service
• Friendly Ambience

Forget the above if you are looking for these things in your dining experience.

I ordered a Malai Kofta, Garlic Naan, Rumali Roti and Paneer Pakoda.
It almost took the waiter 1 hour to realize that we existed in that place and had already ordered the food. His excuse was so lame" today is my first day in here"…WooW!! How many of you buy this.

My starterand teh main course came together, rumali roti was absent instead teh waiter ordered us the roti( its no longer your choice what you can eat), by the time we got the Garlic bread my Malai kofta was finished.

I should mention one thing though, the free papads presented were the only food you can call “EDIBLE”.

This is one of the worst Indian restuarants i have ever visited. I would not recommend this to anyone.
