Delicious New Alternative on Route 1

Yesterday was Mother’s Day and we decided to try the brand new BT Bistro which is in the restaurant space that was occupied by Charlie Brown’s on Route 1 at the Clarion Hotel. What a great choice! Eating out on Mother’s Day or any holiday is often disappointing. But everything that we had was absolutely delicious. BT Bistro is another restaurant venture of Bobby Trigg who owns Ferry House in Princeton. The restaurant is pretty and the wait staff was gracious and extremely helpful. I had a chilled lobster tail which was perfectly cooked and a crab margarita which is a signature dish of Ferry House. It was absolutely delicious though I think a tad small for a main course. My husband’s herb crusted flounder was amazing as was the delmonico steak and grilled chicken salad that my daughters had. The firecracker shrimp appetizer was great! We even splurged for dessert! The flourless chocolate cake was just plain divine! I highly recommend this welcomed addition to Route 1

i expected better food from Bobby Trigs

We ate lunch at B.T. Bistro on Saturday. Service is terrible, had to ask for bread twice. Soup was lukewarm. They charged $7 for roasted pepper soup that did not taste like pepper and was not hot. I complained, but next dish had cold mashed potatoes. Chicken that came was mashed potatoes was dry and also came with mushroom vegetable dish but I could not find any mushrooms there and it did not taste like it had any mushrooms. Yam fries that came with pulled pork sandwich were good. Very disappointing experience and place was empty.

Dishes I tried:

Pretty Good

So I certainly appreciate wanting to bring this kind of upscale yet warm food environment to this area, which I think has been lacking. I just had a few issues with what I experienced. First, our waitress was miserable. Basically glum and frowning, never refilling a glass or asking if we would even like more beverages until we flagged her down. The food was good, but nothing special. The burger, which was highly recommended was nice, but sadly accompanied by 3 or 4 greasy potato slices. The pulled pork was disappointing and tasted old. It was served with excellent, crisp sweet potato fries but a dismal watery version of cole slaw. Dessert, the thyme pannacotta was a highlight, but not enough to pull its friends out of the mess. I would attempt a revisit, but hope for better service and fresher fare.

very bad service

my family and I went to this restaurant for lunch. They were unwilling to give us a table and said that only the bar is available while there were quite a few tables available. During the whole time we were there, no one else came in for lunch. the food is ok. But the service is really bad. Then my father was meeting us there for lunch and came in late. The waitress came to ask for what he would like before he was able to look at the menu, so we told her give us 5mns but bring a glass of water for my father. Never brought the water and never came back to take the order from my father. Meanwhile, the waiters and waitresses were all walking around having a good chat. This is unacceptable service as we felt discriminated against since other people seem to have been served and other clients seem to be happy. I will never go back there again.

Saturday Night Treat!

I’m not great at writing reviews, so I’m going to make this short and sweet: the service was fantastic, the food was pleasing to our palates (I loved the fire cracker shrimp and filet mignon), and the decor is just something that I have never seen before. My company had a cocktails and appetizers from the bar (Kate was our bartender was very sweet and pleasant), so I decided to take my business partners their for an early dinner treat. David was our server (I think was a head server or manager there?) and gave us wonderful attentive service. I will be sure to ask for him upon our return. He was very polished and professional, and one could got the impression that he loved his work. No manager visited our table, but a beautiful hostess (dark hair…maybe early 40’s) asked how are evening was and encouraged us to come back for an office happy hour. BT Bistro was not dissappointing, and I look forward to going again especially for the creme brulee!!

Cheers!
