I think this is one of the better Pho places in San Jose....
I think this is one of the better Pho places in San Jose. Tucked in a small inlet by Lawrence and just up the street from Mercado, this place is a friendly, clean restaurant.
Kind of strange that it is clean.
But the soup is hearty with a good, strong beef flavor (not as much on the sweet side as other places in San Jose seem to be). I prefer the more savory broth to the sweet kind.
Pho Tai was great, and you can ask for the steak on the side… which is always better for Pho. Fast, friendly service and cheap prices ($5.45 for a Large).

The location is not that great, but the food is pretty decent. A large pho dac biet goes for about 5.45 and their thai iced tea is pretty good, although mine was not cold enough to be “iced tea.”
secret pho place!
Tucked away in a dingy little strip mall near AMC Mercado is a great secret Pho place! While not much of a secret because the place is always full at lunch, it is not one of the big pho places like pho hoa. Somehow word of mouth has made this place thrive in the middle of nowhere!
Just beware! Parking options are pretty limited and you cannot park in the spots allocated to the neighboring apartment complex!
