From the Restaurant

Handmade pastas are the specialty at Da Vinci, an Italian Park Square newcomer that promises an elegant dining experience without the steep prices; early sketches by its namesake artist accent the high-ceilinged dining room, which features a granite bar and cloth-covered tables set aglow from crystal candle-lamps.

Nice new restaurant

I went to DaVinci yesterday and I must say that I will almost certainly come back. All in all everything was good, especially the food. The design is very unique and the outdoor patio is very nice, especially on a warm spring or summer evening. One of the things that really added a nice touch to my evening was when the chef came out to speak to us, which doesnt happen very often. I will definetly come back, and by the looks of it it might even become my new usual destination.

Pleasently Surprised

This restaurant was recommended by a very close friend of mine and I must say that I was very pleasantly surprised. I must admit that I did not necessarily expect much since it is a relative newcomer to the ‘fine dining’ scene but I was very happy with my dining experience. To start off with the food was excellent, all the way from appetizers to the deserts – the chef fish was certainly one of the best dishes I have had in a long time. The service was on part with the food, just like anyone would expect from the price of the menu (which is actually cheaper than other comparable restaurants) and the atmosphere and the design are both very nice. I do not normally take the time to comment on my dining experiences but I feel that I should make an exception to command the people behind DaVinci for their fine work and hopefully one of them read this.

?????

I am sorry to hear about barb (also called katy12 and barbak1301 on zagat) experience. I think the Filleto di Manzo is a great dish. Just last Saturday it was voted by the Phantom Gourmet as the WOW dish among the recently reviewed restaurants in Boston. It was listed under the “Dish worth driving for”. Also, I dont think it is right to call someone a MORON. The bar servers at Da Vinci speak very good English and are always very helpful and attentive. I am not sure where this negative feedback comes from.

Worst dining experience in years.

I and my dining companion arrive around 8:15 P.M., with no reservations, we were asked to sit at the bar when the table was getting ready. The bar attended was a moron, not only he did not know how to make a simple drink, he also did not speak English, so we could not explain to him what we wanted. Thankfully, not long after we were asked to the table. Service was just barely average, with little if no interest in the customer, I received a chipped glass on my second serving of wine. It was fairly sizeable chip and I easily could have cut myself on it if I hadn’t been observant. This lack of care extends into the kitchen. While my first dish, carpachio della pera was quite tasty (and one of the only things that I could actually recommend off the menu), my companion’s appetizer, the fegato di antara, was a disaster on a couple of fronts and it left an odd taste in one’s mouth. Let’s leave the foie gras to French and Italians stick with pasta. I actually try another dish, the filleto di manza, as my main dish. It was woefully overcooked, resembling scorched leather, and subsequently lacks any real flavor. Anyone who has lived in Boston for any length of time can name several good Italian restaurants, unfortunately Da Vinci is not and will not be one of them.
