Post-dinner indulgence

If you have the room after a fine meal along the magnificent mile, you should drop by the Ghirardelli for a nice leisurely ice cream sundae. The sundaes are fantastic. If you’ve got a large group, you should get the Earthquake – it’s phenomenal.

If the weather is good, you should definitely sit out on the sidewalk so you can people watch all the tourists and fancy people who shop on the magnificent mile. There’s usually a bunch of horse and carriages riding around and they’re fun to watch. Also entertaining are the chubby kids that come from the Hershey’s store across the street to the Ghirardelli (sounds healthy huh?).

Another nice touch is the free sample of chocolate that they usually give you when you enter the store. It helps if the line is long and you have to get something sugary in your system right away.

The shop can get pretty crowded but since ice cream doesnt take long to finish the turnover is pretty decent and I don’t think I’ve ever had a problem finding a table.

The sundaes are a bit pricey, so don’t come too often ;)

I’m a sucker for chocolate and for brownies. When they’re together I can’t control myself!

i scream for ice cream!!!

aaaaaaahhhh!!! what a fabulous place to spend a casual evening.

if you’ve got ice-cream cravings, check out ghirardelli’s. altho it draws no size comparison to the mother flagship store in s.f. (this is a teeny tiny shop), ghirardelli’s on michigan carries the same decor & design, and offers the same decadent shakes, malts, sundaes, and banana splits.

they’ve got an outside patio area also, which i like to use since it can get a little stuffy inside.

watch out for the crowds at nite – the line moves quickly though so don’t be discouraged and give it a try!

brownie makes everything better! gobs of ice-cream AND a brownie…does it get any better??? big enough for 2-3 peeps

dark chocolate waffle cones! so big & tasty. cookies ‘n cream is excellent – i highly recommend it!

gobs of ice cream was delicious, but the berry stuff was too much artificial syrup for me.

gobs & gobs of ice-cream. great for big groups…and i mean BIG groups. you’ll get to try a little bit of everything – that is if it hasn’t melted by the time they’ve scooped all the flavors, and brought it to your table.
