HORRIBLE Service -- does NOT deserve your $$

Just came back from my first visit to this establishment, and it will be my last. I walked in at about 5:15 pm; no one was at the counter to help customers. After waiting for about 5 minutes (along with another customer who was examining the menu), a young woman sporting a headset (and scarily enough, a grey-colored button-down shirt instead of the standard black polo worn by other employees, denoting that she was most likely the manager or at least the shift supervisor) sauntered out from a room in the back with her mouth full of food, chewing, glanced over at us, and disappeared again for another 3 minutes.

In the meantime, a gentleman approached the counter next to me with a burger in his hand -- a wrongly made order. He had asked for extra onions and no pickles. (See -- I can still remember the order and they couldn’t get it right the FIRST time!).

We got the attention of one of the 3 people who were on the floor (two deployed to the food preparation area and one taking and handing out drive-thru orders) and it turned out that the chick with the mouth full of food?... She was the one “covering” the front register.

When the gentleman explained what was wrong with his order, she argued with him about what he had asked for and said she’d repeated the order to him. He insisted that he wanted extra onions and NO pickles. I advised her not to argue, just to agree with him and give him what he wanted, and really, I was NOT unpleasant about it. I work in another food service establishment and deal with customers like this ALL the time. Where I work we “just say YES” and apologize for OUR mistake! She shot back at me, “I’m NOT arguing!!”

At that point, I stepped away from the counter and held my tongue. I was there with another party, so I didn’t walk out altogether, but did NOT place an order of my own.

The cashier and the customer with the mis-made order continued to argue for another 3-4 minutes, then the guy came back to my table and bent my ear for another 5 while his burger was getting made. (EIGHT minutes for a fast-food hamburger? PLEASE.)

My advice: there’s a McDonald’s just about right across the street and a Chick-Fil-A that’s catty corner from there that both have stellar service (at least the DT at McD’s does—I haven’t been inside) OR better yet, drive about .5 mile north on Hwy 9 to the Checker’s. They are VERY fast, extremely happy to provide service, and ALWAYS get special orders right. You could also treat yourself to one of the Five Guys in the area (Dawsonville and North Point Mall are the closest locations I’m aware of).

There are simply too many fast food options available to support an establishment that provides such abysmal service as this. At the very minimum, these people should be nearly invisible, unmemorable, and get us what we pay for in an efficient manner. At the best, they should strive to delight customers, make positive personal connections, and exceed our expectations every day.
