Great service
We arrived for an early dinner at this restaurant and were the first patrons. The service during our meal was very good. The food was nice but not exactly what I would have expected.
I started with the roasted beets served with walnut garlic pesto and blue cheese. While it was all tasty it was a bit too saucy…
For my entree, I opted for the new addition to the menu – the sumac dusted swordfish with eggplant napoleon and English pea coulis. The swordfish was excellent – 2 delicate pieces of fish with a very nice flavor. Unfortunately, the eggplant napoleon left a bit to be desired. It was a little cheesy and the eggplant pieces were a little larger than expected. The flavor was ok, but as a bit eggplant fan, I had higher expectations.
I wrapped up my meal with the chocolate bread pudding. Again, presentation was very nice but it wasn’t exactly what I expected. There were cherries in the breadpudding which were ok, but not the texture I was hoping for. The icecream was good that was served with it.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was very nice. I loved the cherry blossom branches decorating the dining room. Our water glasses were never empty and everything was nicely presented and just the right temperature. Overall I thought the meal was a soild one but it wouldn’t make it into my top 20 favorite metro dc meals. If you are in the neighborhood, it is certainly worth a try.
