Going Downhill Fast
Not that it ever had any decent standing as a restaurant….We have various friends that come in from out of town who each keep wanting to go to this place so we go. That’s about the caliber of the clientele – tourists, bridge and tunnel. It’s about as pretty as being at a christening for someone’s kid on Staten Island. Truly a wanna-be crowd – and that’s the main attraction there since the food is about as good as what you’d get at the afore-mentioned christening. On one night, the ravioli was slimy and overcooked, another night we were served an oddly fishy-smelling potato leek soup, and on all occasions, the desserts were definitely day-old and reeking of floating refrigerator odors. On my recent visit, an entourage of guido-ettes had an especially drunk woman in their party who literally vomited on the shoes of a diner next to us and the management did nothing to help clean up. This is my last visit to this dump. Tourist might find it novel, but to a true New Yorker, no thanks.

I feel like coming here is more to see and be seen. The ambiance is nice, admittedly and the people that go seemingly all fit into the trendy/chic category. The food though is a different story. We went in a group, we all agreed that the portions were surprisingly small for what we paid for (but then again we did a prix-fixe) but what we had was good so I’ll give them that.

despite all the celebrity hype, butter is a little overrated. food was still excellent… even though other similar restaurants in new york can replace it just as well, if not, better. would’ve been a 4 star if paris hilton hadn’t said it was her favorite restaurant.
