Is Castro Cooking?

As a Chestnut Hill residents we are always on the lookout for good new local restaurants. Alas, this is not one of them! We took visiting family from Oregon and were embarrassed by the quality of the food. Two of us had the one fish dish on the menu – King fish, described as “like sword fish” by the waitress. It was incredibly fish-y and old in taste, besides being dry and full of bones. The rice was overcooked Uncle Ben’s and the black beans straight out of a can – no flavor. One of us ordered “Arroz con Pollo”, described as a moist chicken breast. He had a hard time finding 2-3 oz. of dry chicken chunks in a sea of tasteless overcooked rice. The tostones (mine never came, thank goodness) were dry and tasteless, Pork dish was fatty and oversalted. One thing was high – the prices! – for this really BAD food. Nice setting, but don’t be fooled!
