The best. The closest you’ll come to gelato this side of the Mediterrean! Make sure you don’t confuse this place with the older gelateria the next block over – they can’t compare. They serve icy ice cream, not creamy, smooth Italian gelato. My favorite combination: panna cotta and cioccolato. (And I’m a sucker for minimalist, modern design too.)

mediocre milano

if you’re looking for something quick to satisfy your sweet tastebuds, then gelato milano may do the job…but, if you’re looking for some primo gelato, then you’re better off elsewhere.

the all-white minimalist interior left me feeling like i was in a deserted space station far far away, and although the flavor choices are plentiful, i felt at a loss for what to get—nothing grabbed my attention really.

overall, a disappointing visit to gelato milano.

What I ate:

creamy, but could have been much creamier cause it started to melt fast…before i’d even finished paying and left the store. grainy texture, and a bit strange tasting. i couldn’t quite place my finger on it.

i love a good classic vanilla, but this yellow-tinted vanilla didn’t taste like vanilla at all! maybe my tastebuds are off whack, but it was an unusual non-vanilla taste. yucky.

With a name like Gelato Milano I was expecting some Italian-grade gelato, but I was somewhat disappointed because it lacked that rich satisfying taste really good gelato has. I also though it was sort of pricey for the medium sized scoops I got. Chocolate was pretty good tasting, but the Straciatella tasted sort of icy. Also, maybe I’m not hip enough, but the minimalist interior doesn’t exactly put you in the cheeriest of moods. On to the next gelateria.
