great food, bad service

The menu is basically half indian, half chinese – there is very little actual fusion. However, thinking that maybe we were just new to this type of fusion cuisine and weren’t seeing the nuances of the dishes, we asked the waiter what he recommended. He couldn’t recommend anything, which was totally unhelpful. At the end of the meal, when we asked if we could take home the leftovers, the waiter unceremoniously handed us empty boxes and a plastic bag to pack our own food. I would expect that at Chili’s, but not at a restuarant that is clearly trying to be upscale.

I will say, however, that the food we ordered (butter chicken, eggplant, and butter nan) was fantastic, not overly heavy or oily like some other indian food restaurants. I would go back again.

What I ate:
  • ****

Very good, spicy but not enough to make you need water. Not greasy like many eggplant dishes.

  • ****

Unlike many butter chicken dishes that are swimming in cream. The creaminess is subtle but noticable. Great, mild flavor.

  • ****

Not very buttery, more like traditional nan. I liked it that way, because greasy nan is no fun to handle with your fingers, but others might want a bit more butter, since this is very similar to traditional nan. But it was clearly freshly made, not dry.

Trying to hard

This new fusion restaurant needs alot of work. My list of complaints: - Two separate waiters came to take our order (Normally I expect this only of cheap chinese or vietnamese restuarants, but not someplace where the average dish is $12) - we ordered Naan but we had to remind the waiter to bring it after waiting 10 minutes. After our initial order, a second order came out, further proving the lack of communication between the wait staff - the food was presented well but did not have much flavor
