I Am Hoping The Staff Is All Pretty New To This Location

The old Hooters restaurant in Winnipeg has closed down and a new one has been built. The decor is still all wood everywhere, and even though there isn’t much changed, the restaurant seems significantly less redneck than I had felt it had in the past. Oh yeah, the little orange shorts on the waitresses… have they gotten way smaller?

I visited with a group of friends because one of them is getting married soon. This was the start of his big party. One glaring issue I had with this place was the service. Perhaps because the place is new and maybe all this staff is inexperienced I don’t know, but we had a different server for virtually every drink and food order. All of the staff was no where near as goofy-ish friendly as i have experienced at a Hooters restaurant in the past. As a matter of fact, one of our servers, while taking our order was openly chastised by her manager. After the manager left, she rolled her eyes and well, as endearing as that is, it shouldn’t be happening in front of customers.

My married friend had to stand up with some new accessories and got sung to, and well that was it. A good time with friends. Thankfully the wings were as good as always. I hope they get their servers and/ or management trained better though. It would also have helped if they could have assigned one server to us for most of the night. As a matter of fact, we had two tables and at one time, one server would only serve us, and another would only serve our other table. There has got to be a little give in this area!

I know I’ve gotten into some arguments before with others about this, but you just cannot beat the price, presentation (50 Wing dishes?), and taste of Hooters wings.

A fifty wing dish is great for a group of friends to gather and enjoy each other’s company. Who doesn’t like wings? Well, I suppose I wouldn’t be able to invite any vegetarian friends along (at least to enjoy the wing part of the meal anyhow).

I like how they let you select whatever quantity of wings in your order to be different flavours. I am a 911 (very hot) flavour fan myself. Unfortunately not too many people select this. There was a day, when Hooters first opened their restaurant here, when the 911 wings were too ridiculously hot to be edible by most people. Now though, it seems toned down. Unfortunately that means thier regular ‘Hot’ flavour is not hot at all. Ninety-nine percent of the time, whoever I go there with will only order the ‘Hot’ flavoured wings and state, ‘Wow. These are not hot at all’. I Wouldn’t even bother with the medium or mild. The trouble is with the less hot sauce on the wings, the greasier they taste. So while I have had milder wings there, the grease upsets my stomach.

There are other flavours too. This time around we had teriyaki which were pretty good, BBQ, and some garlic flavoured ones. Out of them all, I will still take the Hot, or preferably 911 wings over anything else. The teriyaki ones were a nice, sweeter change in between hot wings though.
