momo nepalese please!

what’s most memorable for me about nepalese food is the momo (nepalese dumpling). they’re dollar-coin size dumplings filled w/interestingly spiced meats or veggies; they’re fun to eat and delicious. annapurna offers indian and tibetan as well as nepalese cuisine, but most of what i recognized on the menu was indian dishes.

service was friendly, not too slow and the ambiance of this basement level restaurant felt casual and went along w/the homemade style cooking of the dishes.

What I ate:
  • *****

i like momos! i probably could’ve had this appetizer dish as a meal if i weren’t too hungry. comes w/3 dipping sauces.

  • *****

palak paneer is my favorite indian dish, so i’m a bit biased. not as creamy as palak paneer i’ve had before, but still good.

  • *****

for $2.75, you’ll get your money’s worth. served in a large tropical drink glass, this mango lassi is large enough to share w/another and definitely larger than most places i’ve ordered it.

  • ***

surprisingly not as doughy and buttery as naan i’ve had in the past at other indian restaurants. i enjoyed eating my dishes w/the basmati rice more so than the naan we ordered.

Really popular on a sat night, service was slower as a result, but the food more than made up for it. We had chicken and spinach Momo, Mango Mazza with chicken, and Chicken tikka saag. and bottomless chai tea :)

The Mango mazza was amazing, although maybe it’s because I love everything with paneer in it :D It’s still really good though. Had real chunks of mango in it, with chicken, paneer, and veges in a very tasty sauce. And came in a big portion too.

The service is notoriously slow (even if you are the only one in the place!) but the mango lassis are the best, and the food is delicious. We go here when we have time for a long, leisurely meal. Any mango dishes on the menu are amazing.
