Really fantastic burgers. Used to be a secret but not anymore. Don’t go during the lunch hour as the line will be ridiculously long. Actually kind of pricey and cash only. Atmosphere is very homey and “hole in the wall” but given the location and price, it’s far from it.

A truly fantastic burger. Nothing fancy, but hot and fresh. PLUS, you can get it as rare as you want – a real treat! Cash only and pretty limited menu, which does include some baked goods, but if you didn’t want a burger, why go to the burger joint?

Not so secret anymore! Hidden behind curtains at Le Parker Meridien. Better than In ‘n Out, maybe. Curt staff and interesting patrons (lots of celebs judging from the scribbles on the wall) and sensationally greasy food. The menu has like… 3 items. Prices are very reasonable for good NY food, but overpriced for a burger.

There is no compromising the quality, taste and value that are available at this hidden gem. The Burger, while small, has a great charbroiled flavor and hits the spot in both taste and nostalgia. The Milk Shakes when available are kitschy but flaworful, especially the chocolate. The fries, while remenisant of fast food fries are always hot, plentiful and fun to eat. I would sayt he downside is ultimatly the secret is out and the lines and limited seating are a downer. Still a great burger place and a place to take friends.
Awesome burgers, clandestine location
This ranks as one of my favorite places to eat EVER. It’s a small, traditional burger joint… but hidden behind a floor to ceiling curtain in the lobby of posh Le Parker Meridien Hotel. We knew what we were looking for, and it was so well disguised we still had to ask a hotel receptionist where to find it!
The burgers here are fantastic – this burger is all about the meat, a nice, fat, juicy slab of grilled sirloin, and not overly stuffed with veggies. It’s a pretty small burger, so most people probably would not find it filling on its own. My personal preference with burgers is that I don’t when they’re so big that 1) you can’t fit it inside your mouth 2) Everything ends up falling out of them. Even though this burger is small, I feel like the smaller size allows for more concentrated flavor.
The thing I was most impressed with is that I was feeling sick as a dog when I came to the Burger Joint – so sick that as soon as I got my food, we took a taxi straight back to the hotel. So I ended up not eating my burger until a good 3 hours later. Cold and slightly soggy, I still thought that was the tastiest burger I’ve ever had. So, there you go.
Be forewarned that the place is tiny, so plan on taking your food to go, or waiting a while for a table to clear up. The walls are covered with the names of celebrities who have enjoyed a burger there, but you get the idea that this place is mostly frequented by locals and the rare tourist-in-the-know. If you can eat in, I would recommend it… it’s not every day you get to eat at a greasy burger joint hidden in the middle of a posh hotel lobby. :)
