From the Restaurant

Chaya Brasserie San Francisco, is named for the casual, salon-like gathering spots of France and Japan. Chaya Brasserie combines Japanese hospitality, French savoir-faire and both countries' tradition of culinary excellence and artistry. Chaya consists of two combined rooms. The main dining room offers a lively bar/dining area and the more serene carpeted dining room offers a more private setting as well as a sushi bar and a glass sushi table, both reserved for reservation or drop-in guests. Chaya, known for excellent French-Japanese Cuisine, top quality Sushi, stunning design, and superb service, also offers magnificent views from every seat in the restaurant that sweep from the Ferry Building to the Bay Bridge.

This is a nice place by the waterfront, it can get loud inside the restaurant and there is live music which is nice. I had the salmon which was good, but the pork side was incredibly tender. The salmon tartare was small but tasty. For desert, I loved the caramelized pears, but the chocolate cheesecake was a bit too sweet.
