It’s a good lunch spot. I had okra with black bean sauce with brown rice and my friend had thier lunch special, some button vegetables (it’s like vegetable patties) with veggie fried rice and additional noodles order. I liked the food. And it was a lot of it, so I can definitely have another meal. The waiter was super-nice and accomodating. I’d definitely go back for lunch.

This is not mainstream or authentic Chinese cuisine — it’s Indochinese. As a lover of Cantonese cuisine, I can not hold it to my standard. I must treat it as another style of dining altogether. It’s quite delicious once one acquires the taste. I’ve only ever had dinner here, and it has been tasty. I’m sure the lunch specials would not measure up. Even though it’s not real Chinese food, I challenge anyone to turn me onto a better Chinese restaurant in downtown Redmond (not Overlake). I frequent it because I can’t be bothered to drive to Factoria get my (semi) Chinese food fix.

Having heard a lot of chatter about this new “Inchin’s” restaurant in the heart of Redmond, I was eagerly looking forward to trying out this new hotspot in a town that, for the most part, doesn’t offer much dining excitement.

My initial impression was good – the owners took the claustrophobic space that the previous occupants inhabited and remodeled it nicely, with dark wood paneling and a distinctly “cool” asian motif. They even had a small bar section with a nice liquor display.

This is one book you shouldn’t judge by it’s cover, however. The options on the lunch menu sounded intriguing, with neat names like “Devil’s Beef” and “Hakka Noodles”, but the food itself was really, really disappointing.

The lunch special comes with rice, a choice of hot & sour or egg drop soup, and a veggie egg roll. Sadly, it was the veggie egg roll that I liked the best from the meal. The “sauce” that came with our portions was watery and flavorless, and the Everything else went downhill from there, especially given the prices for a lunch combo.

Perhaps the dinner menu is better, but it’ll be hard to convince me to come back. I’d rather go to Panda Express for better food at a cheaper price.

Inchin’s is a case of “don’t judge a book by its cover” because the cover here is better than the food. When I walked in and sat down, I was pleased by the very nice and modern decor. There’s even one of those nice free standing glass panes with water running down. However, once I got my food, I was less than excited about the bland flavor. The lunch special portions weren’t that large and the dishes didn’t have much of the usual Indian or Chinese spice flavoring. On the bright side, the lunch specials come with an egg roll that’s decent. Overall it felt like glorified and pricey takeout asian. I think I’d rather get 2 lunch combos at Panda Express for the same price. Maybe it was just the lunch food that wasn’t good, but I don’t think I’ll be back to try dinner.

It was cool being a minority at this restaurant. It was packed with East Indian families, which I take to be a good sign. The food was great – a combo of Chinese food with a bit of Indian twist. Lots of good dishes to try – I plan to go back and try different ones. This is a new restaurant – so still unknown by most people.
