Well I asked a few people I know in various parts of the world via email what they knew about Charlies. No one knew anything. So as far ass World famous, I think is misleading.

never the less I used to love this place. But after tonights meal, never again. The prices reflect $4 gas and resulting seafood prices. Problem is, gas is back down to $2.90.

$5.99 for a medium onion ring.. ok so apparently onions and batter are up??!?! but I counted, because I could not eat them. They were soaked in Oil. Apparently not drained properly. stained the seat of the car, (yes this was take out) I had 22 onion rings that I could not eat. that comes to 0.27 an onion ring. pretty hefty for take out don’t you think? We’re talking about onions here.. Maybe they were working me for the pint of oil.

Bay scallop plate improved the situation. they were a bit on the brown side. more than I couldn’t eat in a sitting which always annoys me but some people love big portions so I’ll deal. $10.99. I had an old menu when I ordered so I expected $6.95 for the scallop plate and $3 for the rings. So that would have come to a bit more than $10 for a take out meal. Well it came to over $18. So in effect in a year(since the old menu was used) we have an 80% increase. Someone is screwing someone.

Don’t bother. New England offers many places much like Charlies used to be.

Oh by the way… $25 lobster roll. Go to the shack and boil your own and grab a couple a hot dog rolls and you’ll have a better deal and a better roll.
