THEY DISCRIMINATE
DO NOT EAT HERE
My family and I did not actually get to eat at Little Sheep tonight because the restaurant DISCRIMINATED against us. They were plenty busy when we arrived, but still there were tables open. The party of four in front of us (speaking Mandarin) got a table. We asked (in English) for a table of four and was told the wait was 15 minutes. There were open tables and no one else was waiting. The party of four immediately behind us (again speaking Mandarin) was then seated at a table while we waited. When I told different hostess of the situation (now I’m speaking in Cantonese), she said there are several open tables and we would be seated immediate.
I was humuliated. I cannot believe in this day and age, and in a culturally diversed community that I was blatantly discriminated against. There should be no place for such prejudice in our society today. I ask all patrons to boycott this restaurant because its more than about food, it’s about standing up against prejudice and forming a society and community that is based on our believes.
Finally, Mongolian hot pot!
I’ve never really liked hot pot until I tried Mongolian hot pot in Taiwan and loved it. Finally, they have one in the Bay Area! Apparently Little Sheep is a big chain in China and they’re just starting to open up over here. If you’ve never had Mongolian hot pot before, it’s just like regular hot pot but with a ton of herbs and spices. Most people get a half spicy/half plain broth. From there you pick from the usual variety of raw meats, veggies, and noodles, which you cook yourself. The spicy broth is what gives the hot pot it’s robust, unique flavor. If you ever thought traditional hot pot was too plain, then Mongolian hot pot is for you.
This place gets pretty crowded during peak hours, but it’s in a plaza with a Marina market and Tapioca Express, so there’s places to wander around while you wait. If you get tired of waiting, Banyan Tree (a good Malaysian place) is in the same plaza.
