Several years ago, Sondre McCutcheon’s 100 year old house-restaurant burned to the ground. All of Snohomish and surrouding area seemed to mourn the passing of a dear member of the family. So, Sondre re-built and recreated the 100 year old house in close detail (adding some new modern refinements to curb future fires, too).
One year to the day of the first Cabbage Patch demise, she re-opened to the great relief and appreciation of the dining public.
The signature Cabbage Patch Soup is just the start of a long list of superlative fare…salads (try the cranberry-spinach); sandwiches, great variety of solid entrees, and desserts that are downright sinful…but, oh, so good…especially the pies! If it weren’t for the inevitable check at the end of your feast, you would think that you were at Grandma’s House…the country Grandma…the one who could really cook!
After a few hours of antique browsing on 1st Street, head half way up Avenue A and you will be receive a royal welcome, service and fantastic food!
I broke stride and ventured away from the always excellent Cabbage Patch Soup. I was not disappointed: large chunks of turkey and potato in a creamy base and nicely seasoned. It was like a mini-Thanksgiving feast in a bowl! The choice of salads for this special isn’t easy, either. They are all excellent! But the spinach/cranberry/and candied pecan combo. is especially tasty.
Oh, and the friendly server always brings a scone with a homemade berry compote/marmalade to baptize it with. You might even get another if you ask real nice!
