Never eat @ Cafe Bagel Elkridge - owner is terrible!

The owner or manager of Cafe Bagel is about the most unfriendly human on the planet. My family has been going there for a number of years now and I’m not sure really why. He never smiles, says thank you, or seems to care that you are there. He basically treats you like dirt and that you are doing him a favor by eating at his restaurant. My wife has always forced me to go since it is close and easy. I’ve tried to limit the times we go since he is so unpleasant (and his staff ain’t too friendly either – no surprise). But, we have spent a lot of money there. All of that has changed today. Today, I was there today with my son. I had bought a bagel and a drink. I was there for a while feeding my son and I was getting ready to go and about to get a refilll. The owner rudely (and loudly) told me that drinks were only allowed one refill for dine-in customers. It was my second refill in over the hour or more that I had been there. Apparently he was watching me like a hawk. Good that he could count the number of refills that I had and not count the number of times we had been there and dollars we had spent over the years. BTW – the owner is the king of signs including one that said something about “we only like well-behaved children” which has been taken down recently. Who has a sign like that? And although the king of signs – some telling you which way to turn, what not to touch, how to act, who to bring – there is no sign about one refill. There is a refill sign (no surprise) but it states no refills for other than dine-in customers which seems fair. If you want to be treated like dirt than eat here, if you want to be treated like a value customer eat somewhere else like Pazani (which is right down the street) or eat at Einstein Bros at Route 40, Panera’s, get bagels at Giant….anywhere but here. The owner just doesn’t get it. He doesn’t seem to want repeat customers or a family atmosphere, so just go somewhere else. If I was the owner, I would be treating customers like gold especially in these hard economic times when a dollar is important. We will NEVER eat (or drink) there again.
