Always a good time and cheap!
Cafe Iberico is always a great place to go to have good food, good drinks, and a loud time. They have some of the cheapest tapas around and the food is excellent. It reminds me of the good times we had in Spain :)
Finding this place was so refreshing after eating tapas in San Francisco – they’re so expensive there!!
Be sure to go early if you go on a Friday or Saturday, but any other time there’s barely a wait since the restaurant is huge.
Dishes I tried:
White wine sangria
Refreshing, tasty, and makes you tipsy!
TORTILLA ESPAÑOLA
Mmm, I love egg. I’ve loved tortilla since I first tried it in Spain.

Solid choice for tapas
Yummy tapas. Delicious sangria. Great Really, really good prices. Great for really large groups of friends. Be prepared for a really long wait on Fri and Sat nights, though. And if on the day you go, they have the paella with noodles on the specials…get it!

Always a good choice
I’ve been here too many times to count! I love the croquettes and the chix salad is huge for $5. I have also ordered a chix empanada to go. For $11 it’s a great alternative to pizza and feeds 3-4 people. Lunch, dinner, late night this is a great choice. the cons are: can be crowded and VERY noisy, and they really mess up traffic on LaSalle street, oh yeah beware of wearing white and drinking a lot of red sangria!
Dishes I tried:
PINCHO DE POLLO
My favorite dish chicken with carmelized onion and spanish rice, fab!

Best Tapas in Chicago
Cafe Iberico is the best place in Chicago for tapas and the prices are terrific. Start off with a pitcher of red sangria and then order away for the table! My favorites…Queso de Cabra and Calamares a la Plancha. Reservations are not accepted on Fri/Sat so either expect a wait, start early, or hope to get lucky and find a table in the bar area.

The atmosphere was fun, but a little too loud for good conversation. The food was yummy! We had the clams, some skate fish with capers and potatoes, and the slow-roasted lamb. Wanted to try the paella too, but that’ll have to be for next time. The red wine sangria was yummy, but nothing spectacular. Will have to try some of the Spanish wines next time. Oh yes, there WILL be a next time! Anyone interested?

festive, lively, well-priced tapas
this is our go-to tapas place. decently priced tapas that are quite tasty. the white sangria is always a winner— very refreshing, and the dishes come out fast. be careful about going during fri/sat nite when it can get crowded – wait times can easily run 1-2 hrs.

My favorite restaurant. I can list by heart numerous tapas dishes! Delicious (and affordable) food! Great atmosphere to experience with friends! I’ve already recommended this place to several friends, and they’ve all loved it. This is a “must eat” everytime I"m in Chicago (and should be for you, too!!!)
